The following links will help residents who are not yet registered to vote, those who would like to switch their voter registration, and those who would like to request an absentee ballot.

Are You Registered?
You can check your voter registration status with the Election Commission by phone, through the mail, or online at the Check Your Registration Status Page.

How to Register
In order to vote, you must register at least 28 days prior to the election event. You must also:

  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be at least 18 years old on or before the election.
  • Maintain residence in your election precinct for at least 30 days before the election.
  • Not be convicted and in jail.
  • Not claim the right to vote anywhere else.

If you have changed your address since your last registration, you must re-register to vote. Requirements are the same. You can (re-)register by mail or in person at the Election Commission. For details on where and how to register, please visit the Dupage Voter Information Page.

Absentee Ballots
If you will not be able to make it to your precinct on election day, you can get an absentee ballot to vote prior to the event. The last day the commission will mail out a ballot is five days prior to the election. To be counted a mailed absentee ballot must be returned to the Election Commission by the day of the election.

Voting Early
Beginning twenty-two days before an election, registered voters may fill out absentee ballots at the Election Commission.
